The American Institute of Commemorative Art (AICA) was founded in 1951 by a group of dedicated memorialists.

AICA is devoted to the highest standards of commemorative memorial design and business ethics in the monument industry.

Membership to the Institute is by invitation only, with the membership throughout the United States and Canada limited only to those firms who have shown a sincere commitment to excellence while practicing their trade.

AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF

MonumentManThe biography of Harold J. Schaller, written by his daughter, Karen J. Hampton, tells the story of this talented man’s long life and career from both an intimate and professional perspective. Mr. Schaller was considered by many to be one of America’s foremost Designer-Memorialists. The book is enhanced by historical photographs, excerpts of interviews, and examples of his art.  Hampton’s personal remembrances illuminate a vibrantly creative, sensitive mind at work behind the scenes of some of our most enduring public and private legacies.
